We are so delighted that the village turned out in force to support a change in the trusteeship of our fantastic village asset, the Dormansland Memorial Hall! There are so many big jobs that now need to start, the handover from the previous trustees, surveying the current building to understand its present state, and understanding the financial position in detail.
However, whilst all of those wheels start turning in the background, we have decided to start tidying up the outside of the hall, as it has become a little sad and neglected.
We have volunteers who are going to start refurbishing the signage and notice boards, and our very own local councillor Sir Nicholas White, has surveyed the outside of the Hall and has made contact with the relevant authorities to remove the fly tipping (mattress and rubbish) as well as the untaxed car which has been languishing for some time on the site along with ‘tyres’.
Next, Sir Nicholas and one of our supporters Cynthia have been at the Memorial Hall specifically clearing the brambles and silver birch that are embedded below in the brickwork and doing some strimming. Please say hi if you are passing.
We really do appreciate every offer of support no matter how big or small, and encourage you to keep revisiting this blog to see the additional ways you may be able to help over the upcoming months.
