Dormansland War Memorial Hall

Dormansland is an incredibly special village, full of community spirit. We are delighted that the project to revitalise Dormansland War Memorial Community Hall is moving forward. We are still working to refurbish, redevelop and modernise the Hall, and are making great progress, in large part through the generosity of the village: volunteers and donations are at the heart of everything we are doing.

Having carried out a parish wide consultation during 2022, we are working on implementing the results, responding to the village’s needs and looking to fulfil our aim: to create a central village hub for our community spirit to reside in. Our pledge remains to create a facility that is more than just a village hall but plays a true homage to its history as a village memorial.

Our vision is for a place that becomes a core space at the heart of the community and a hub of activity seven days a week at all times. A place that is welcoming, inclusive and accessible to all, working hard supporting a wide range of activities, users, clubs and groups. We see it becoming a place which is well loved, connects with all our community, and becomes the integral backdrop to village life, connecting to its central location within the village.

We want the Hall and the area around it to be used as widely as possible. In the last 24 months we have held parties, barn dances, our famous Christmas Fair, village wide celebrations. Parish Council meetings, classes for training humans and animals, and much more. We are a group entirely made up of volunteers, and so sometimes you may need to be patient with us. We are happy to show anyone round, who wishes to use the Hall.
